Sailing trip in Croatia
In the fall of 2025, we organized our first sailing trip in the Mediterranean. We spent a wonderful week in the Croatian archipelago, and inspired by this, we have now booked a boat for our next trip.
Sailing from Slovenia to Venice and back
From April 25 to May 2, 2026, we will be sailing in Slovenia and Northern Italy. We will start our voyage in Izola, Slovenia, which is located just over 50 nautical miles from Venice. We will make a proposed route plan later. We will mostly sleep in marinas so that everyone can explore the destination at their own pace, but we will also try to spend at least one night at anchor to get the most diverse sailing experience possible from our Mediterranean trip.
Usually we prepare breakfast and lunch ourselves on the boat and eat dinner in restaurants whenever possible. From experience, we know which foods work well on sailing holidays, and we will propose a menu for the week, taking into account the dietary restrictions of the participants. Of course, changes can be made to the food and route plans according to the participants' wishes, but having plans in place gives you the chance to enjoy a more relaxing vacation.
What kind of boat do we sail on?
The boat is a 2021 Elan 45.1 Impression with 4 cabins and 2 bathrooms. See the pictures in the carousel below.
Who can participate?
You can join the sailing trip either alone or with a friend, as an experienced sailor or a complete beginner. Oliver Silén will be the skipper for the trip and will teach you the basics of sailing if you wish. However, you can also just come along to relax and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere; there is no obligation to steer the boat or adjust the sails.
What are the cabins like on the boat?
The boat has a spacious bow cabin, two aft cabins, and a side cabin with bunk beds. The bow and aft cabins are generally sold as a whole, while individual berths can be reserved in the side cabin with bunk beds. However, if you would like to reserve a single berth in the bow cabin, you can inquire about this by emailing oliver@silenbrothers.fi
Depending on the number of participants on the trip, the skipper will either sleep in their own cabin, share a cabin, or sleep on the sofa in the saloon or on the deck of the boat.
How much does sailing in the Mediterranean cost?
The price of the trip consists of the participation fee, the boat fund, and travel expenses to and from the boat.
Participation fee
Aft cabin for two: €1,900
Bow cabin for two: €2,000
Bed in a shared bunk cabin: €900
Entire aft cabin for yourself: €1,300
Boat fund
The boat fund is used to pay for port fees, shared meals, fuel, and tourist taxes. The skipper does not contribute to the boat fund. Everyone pays their own share in restaurants, including the skipper. It is a good idea to set aside around €200-300 for the boat fund.
Travel expenses
Everyone is responsible for their own travel to and from the boat. Direct return flights from Helsinki to Ljubljana cost around €250-350 including luggage, and from there you can get to Izola by taxi or bus. Buses run frequently and cost €14 in total. Taxis cost around €150, regardless of the size of the group, which means less than €20 per person for a full group.
How do I register?
You can register either by email (oliver@silenbrothers.fi) or through the webshop. You can see the available cabins in the online store. However, you cannot pay through the webshop, as we are not registered in the security register of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority in accordance with the Travel Package Act, which means that the trip will only be charged after it has started, not before.
